Anticipating and Preventing Oxidation & Varnish Build-Up
We are proud to announce that Dr. Marie Roucan, Head of Research & Testing Laboratory at Antara Groupe, will present her latest research at the 79th STLE Annual Meeting & Exhibition, taking place May 18-22, 2025 in Atlanta, GA.
Her presentation, entitled:
"Innovative Tools for a Better Prevention of Organic Fluids Oxidation and Varnish Build-Up"
will explore cutting-edge strategies in oil degradation monitoring, oxidation prevention, and lubricant treatment. This includes digitalization, nanocomponent design, EPR techniques, and the capture of free radicals - all crucial in the fight against system failures caused by lubricant degradation.
Monitoring & Treating Oxidation in Lubricants
Oxidation is a major cause of lubricant degradation, leading to soluble and insoluble contaminants and varnish formation. Traditional detection methods often fall short due to the complexity and diversity of degradation species.
At Antara Groupe, we are developing a new generation of nanocomponents (NCs) capable of targeting unstable entities like oxygenated molecules and radicals formed during oxidation.
How?
By coupling nanocomponents with Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) techniques, including spin trapping, we're able to identify and monitor key degradation products - turning them into predictive quality indicators.
Why?
This dual capability of monitoring and treatment gives our customers a unique advantage:
-
Prevent failure,
-
Extend oil life,
-
Improve system reliability.
